Above Eleven Rooftop Bar & Restaurant – Bangkok – Insider tip!

posted in: Asia, General, Reviews, Thailand, Travel | 0

During my stopover in Bangkok I had some time to visit the city. Thus, that I’ve been already to Bangkok I knew some nice places and one of them I share with you now. The place is of special interest for those of you who dance salsa.

I would like to introduce you to the Above Eleven Sky Bar in Bangkok. It is a place where you feel the vibrant rhythm of the city as well as a relaxed ambience at the same time. While your eyes wander across the skyscraper which are lit up by many dancing lights you will feel as lofty as I did. It is truly a place where I felt overwhelmed.

In this short review I only discuss the rooftop bar and exclude the hotel which is situated underneath (I never stayed there). But if you want to have some reviews of the hotel please head to Tripadvisor.

The whole skyscraper is located near to the Nana station of the BTS skytrain. The address is:

38 / 8 Sukhumvit Soi 11
Khlongtoey Nuea Wattana
Bangkok 10110
Thailand
The entrance is hidden behind the building where Fraser Suites is written on and can easily be missed. Just walk into the car park and go around the building.

There you’ll find an elevator which flies you straight into the sky bar heaven. But make sure you comply with the dress code which is strictly enforced. The dress code prohibits any sandals, flip-flops and Birkenstocks. Men must wear shoes which fully cover their feet. Additionally are ripped clothing and sleeveless men shirts forbidden. Furthermore I recommend that the gentlemen wear long pants.
If you are able to follow those rules (and don’t look too intoxicated already) you’ll be rewarded with this breathtaking view over Bangkok city:

What I like the most about this place are the salsa dancing nights on every Wednesday. Even if the drinks are expensive, it’s definitely worth it if you imagine to dance with such a view on a rooftop in the middle of Bangkok city. Moreover the drinks are delicious, but that’s something I expect from a rooftop bar with such high prices.

Nevertheless this bar might not please every traveler especially those with a tight budget or other interests than dancing salsa.

In the following video you get a short insight into a lovely night at the Above Eleven roof top bar. Pay special attention to the view from the man toilet – just wow! ;-)
