Performance of the Taimen Shilka Wading Jacket
The Taimen Shilka wading jacket is a small outer shell layer and convinced with its small pack size. The jacket has two pockets and cords at the waist and the hood. I usually take this jacket with me as back-up in case it starts raining. What I loved the most about this jacket is its pack size. The Taimen Shilka wading jacket folds down into its own pocket and measures 15 x 20 x 10 cm, which is extremely small. Moreover, the jacket is very lightweight with 292 grams in size M. Thus, the Taimen Shilka ultralight wading jacket is superb for travelling lightweight.
The fabric is waterproof and breathable nylon and so far, the jacket has excelled in every downpour. Furthermore, it became one of my favourite fishing items because it folds down very small and is very convenient for all my travels.
The only downside is that the fabric is not as strong as heavier wading jackets and therefore is not thought for bushwacking. Nevertheless, it is a great lightweight wading jacket.
Summary about the Taimen Shilka Wading Jacket
– Pack size
– Arms slightly too long
– Not as tear-resistant as heavier wading jackets
The Taimen Shilka wading jacket offers a great fit (though slightly long arms) with great freedom of movement and is absolutely waterproof. Given its lightweight fabric one has to be careful if you go bushwhacking because it is not as tear resistant as heavier jackets. Nonetheless, this wading jacket is my new go-to travel rain layer because of its incredible pack size and weight.
