Maybe you found ExpediTom by accident because you wanted to know how to give commands to an elephant or we met somewhere around the world. Anyway I’m glad you’re here. :-)
But what does ExpediTom mean? Well, ExpediTom is deduced from the latin word expeditus which means ready for action, unhindered or free. At the same time it is a word composition between expedition and my name: Tom. Thus the purpose of this website is to document my expeditions and report them to you. Therefore it isn’t just a travel blog, because it includes additionally every activity I undertake beside my travels. As example there will be posts about fishing trips in Switzerland which I don’t count as travel.
Practically every expedition has to handle some trouble. As example I think of the british expedition of Robert Falkon Scott and his race against the norwegian Ronald Amundsen to the South Pole, which ended with the death of the first one due to blizzards and malnutrition. Thus there are always incalculable risks. The reason there happen such unforeseeable things is pretty simple: You’re not able to predict all circumstance which may occur during your expedition. But that’s exactly the fascinating characteristic of any expedition. The unpredictable factor which makes an enterprise into some unknown places an exciting journey. This website has in fact some similarities. It’s not yet clear where it will lead nor what kind of topic I will write the most about and which less. But I’m certain that remains to be seen.
The website Expeditom is organised in two parts. The first one is the blog with written posts about the different topics like travel, outdoor, fishing and gear reviews. They are chronologically organised so my newest post is at the top. Additionally you find in the right sidebar the post classified by categories.
The second part called ‘The Story’ contains movies I make during my travel in 2015. The idea behind this section is to give you a chance to take part in my travel. Every video includes his own little self-contained short stories, which all together will form a whole movie. (That’s how I imagine this will work, hopefully I achieve this goal at least to some extent :-) ). Additionally I will publish some short movies I filmed during previous travels I made. As example you’ll find a video of the Elephant Conservation Center in Laos.
If you want to have some more information about me you have different options. On the one hand you can head to the ‘about me’, watch this short introduction or feel free to ask me in the comment section which you find at the end of each page. There’s also the opportunity to contact me directly at tom@expeditom.com but I prefer comments because there’s a high chance that someone wants to ask the same question. In the case you want to ask something about a specific topic then the comment section is the best way to go. I do my best to answer everything as fast as I can or in other words: as soon as I find a working wifi. ;-)
